Windows 7 has been a staple of business since July 22nd, 2009. As with all technology, Windows 7 has met it’s useful life and will be retired effective Jan 14th, 2020. That’s a good run for any operating system. Come Jan 2020, Microsoft will stop supporting the Windows 7 operating system. Big deal, right? Yes, this is a big deal.
Without proper support from Microsoft, the security of your computers becomes a big risk to you and the data on your business’ computers. Sure, Windows 7 will continue working, but why would you continue to use something that could leave you so exposed?
Windows 10 was released on July 29th, 2015. That’s almost 4 years of use world-wide. By now, compatibility is a thing of the past. Modern performance, look, & experience make the transition to Windows 10 a breath of fresh air. Sure, it’s changed a little, but the learning curve isn’t steep.
The big question is, what should you do if you have a Windows 7 computer? At this point, there are two options:
If your computer hardware is modern (2 years or newer), upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10.
If your computer hardware is older than 2 years, replace that aging computer with something modern that has Windows 10 pre-installed.
The cost difference for between an upgrade or a new computer is roughly $200 when you factor material and labor. What’s best for you? Reach out to Kota Technology and we can not only help you figure out the best way forward, but we can provide sales, install, and setup for your business.
